Since 1998 L'Oréal and UNESCO encourage women to work in science

L'Oréal et l'UNESCO ont créé le prix Pour les Femmes et la Science il y a 21 ans. Octroyé au Moyen-Orient depuis six ans, le prix encourage et récompense financièrement le travail effectué par des femmes travaillant dans le domaine de la recherche, et incite les jeunes femmes à travailler dans le domaine scientifique. 

Twenty-one years ago, L'Oréal and UNESCO partnered to launch the For Women in Science initiative. In the Middle-East for the past six years, the prize has financially supported and recognised the work accomplished by women researchers and encouraged young women to work in scientific careers.

Le programme a déjà accompagné plus de 3.200 femmes à ce jour, récompensant 107 lauréates et proposant des bourses de recherche à des jeunes scientifiques doctorantes et post-doctorantes chaque année dans 117 pays.

Trois d'entre elles ont reçu des Prix Nobel scientifiques : Ada Yonath, Elizabeth H. Blackburn and Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard. 

The programme has supported more than 3,200 women to date, rewarding 107 laureates and granting doctoral and post-doctoral fellowships each year in 117 countries.

Three of them have won Nobel Prizes for science: Ada Yonath, Elizabeth H. Blackburn, and Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard.

Hier soir de nouvelles lauréates ont remporté le prix 2019 : Dr Maryam AlYammahi (EAU), Dr Fatma Al Ma'Mari (Sultanat d'Oman), Dr Wafa Audah Altahi (Arabie Saoudite) et Dr Nour Alsabeeh (Kuwait) ont reçu chacune EUR 20.000 dans la catégorie Recherche Post-Doctorat. 

Wafaa Ramadan (EAU) et Asma Al-Amoodi (Arabie Saoudite) ont reçu chacune EUR 8.000 dans la catégorie jeunes doctorantes pour leur contribution à la science et leurs travaux de recherche. 

Last night the 2019 laureates were honoured: Dr Maryam AlYammahi (UAE), Dr. Fatma Al Ma'Mari (Oman), Dr. Wafa Audah Altahi (Saudi Arabia) and Dr. Nour Alsabeeh (Kuwait) each received EUR 20,000 in the PostDoctorate Researchers category. Wafaa Ramadan (UAE) and, Asma Al-Amoodi (Saudi Arabia) each received EUR 8,000 in the Ph.D. Students category for their contribution to science and their aspiring research work.
